Our History
The times have changed quite a bit since our grandfather, Jack MacIsaac, opened the doors of his first funeral home on St. Mary's Street in Antigonish in 1926. As we approach our centennial year in operation we are pleased that the third generation of the MacIsaac family are able to offer the same quality of service that our grandfather, Jack and father, Vincent, as well as our mother, Joan, provided to our community. Today, the brother and sister team of John MacIsaac and Terry Purcell, along with employee Alvin Bowman, carry on many of the same traditions and practices of the "old days" but are also keeping up with the changing needs of our community. Our funeral home, housed in a beautiful, homey Victorian house, built in 1888 by Antigonish entrepreneur J. H. Stewart, is located at 61Pleasant St., Antigonish, NS, and provides all the modern conveniences needed in today's world, but with all the charm and craftsmanship of the 1880’s.
Our updated main entry, conveniently located at the rear of the building close to our large parking area, is accessible to all. We have also designed an office/meeting space on ground level for ease of access to all clients. We offer families peace of mind knowing that their loved one will be tended to with the genuine care, respect and trust we have earned over the years. As well, we offer an up-to-date interactive website where you can view an obituary, offer condolences and make donations to a family's preferred charity. Also, if the family requests, we offer state of the art slide shows and video recordings of the funeral. To make it easier for payment we accept Visa and Mastercard, e-transfers in addition to traditional methods.
