Obituary of John Anthony Smith

John Anthony (Jackie) Smith was born October 19th, 1933, in Antigonish. Formerly of Arisaig, he passed away November 1, 2017 at the RK MacDonald Guest Home where he was a resident for about 14 years. Jackie was a kind and gentle person and the last surviving member of his immediate family. Jackie was the son of the late Catherine Rose MacDonald of Ardness, Pictou County and Angus Joseph Smith of Arisaig. Jackie is survived by brother-in- law John Berry, Mass. USA; nieces Mary Elizabeth and Joanne; nephews John, Charles, Edward, Thomas and Daniel, USA. Predeceased by his parents Catherine and Angus; sisters Christine Marie Barry; brothers Charles and Joseph; and niece Karen Berry. Cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St. Antigonish. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 6th at 11am at St. Margaret of Scotland Church, Arisaig. Rev. Colin MacKinnon officiating. Burial in the Parish Cemetery. Donations may be made to the RK MacDonald Nursing Home, or a charity of your choice.
