Obituary of Isabel Chisholm
Chisholm; Isabel "Claire", 88 , of Lower South River passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital. Born in St. Andrews, March 12, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Margaret (Boyd) Chisholm. She graduated from St. Martha’s School of Nursing, Antigonish as a Registered Nurse in 1946 and joined the staff of St. Martha’s where she spent many years as Head Nurse of 2nd East. She was well known as a strict but fair nurse who treated her patients with a compassionate heart and did her utmost to ensure they received superior care from her nursing staff. She was a member of St Andrews CWL for over 50 years and spent many years volunteering at the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home following her retirement. She was an active member of the Clan Chisholm Branch of the Antigonish Highland Society. She is survived by sisters Janet Perro Fraser, Antigonish and Almira MacPherson, Hamilton, ON, She is survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as many wonderful friends. She was predeceased by her husband Gus, son Brian, sister Mary Chisholm and brothers Robert and Leo Chisholm. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 pm Sunday in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St, Antigonish. Funeral Mass 10:30 am Monday in St. Andrews Church, St Andrews. Burial in the South River Cemetery. Donations to the charity of your choice.
