Obituary of Kevin John Chisholm
Kevin John Chisholm passed away in the V.G. Hospital on April 23 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Antigonish to John Joseph Chisholm and Elsie MacKeen. He received his early education in Antigonish at Morrison School and Antigonish High School. He graduated from St. F.X. in 1963 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and in 1964 with a Bachelor of Education Degree. He had several master equivalences. A lifelong educator, Kevin taught school for 33 years in South Colchester Junior and Senior High School, Brookfield. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Truro district Grand Knight and a Charter member of the F. Kinsella Assembly of the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus.
Kevin was a unique individual who always had a story ready to share. He had a great sense of humor and made you remember the happy times. He accepted his sickness and trusted in God. He was a lifelong Roman Catholic. He was the family historian and had a collection of Royal Family information. Always learning himself, he was an avid reader. He enjoyed having coffee daily with his friends on Spring Garden. Kevin worked with Colchester Players and Hubtown Theatre and acted in several plays and productions. He did some freelance acting in several movies.
He is survived by sisters Brenda MacDonald, Arisaig; Karen Ross Jackson (Larry), Calgary, Alberta; brother Douglas Ross (Erica), Coldstream, BC; nieces Pam MacDonald, Arisaig; Adrienne (Pierre) Alexandre, Vernon BC; Brittany Bergh (Braden), Calgary; Katelin Jackson, Calgary; nephews Tom MacDonald (Maria), Arisaig; Sandy MacDonald, Rome; Jay MacDonald, Vancouver, BC; Dustin Jackson (Shannon), Winnipeg; Colin Ross, Vancouver and eight grand nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by Aunt Alice Sutherland, Sherbrooke; Elizabeth Chisholm, Lower Canard; Hazel (Herman) MacKeen, Lower Sackville; Hazel (Scott) MacKeen, Bible Hill; and special cousin Mel MacKeen. He had many close cousins and friends.
Kevin was predeceased by his parents John J. Chisholm and Elsie MacKeen, stepfather Donald Ross, brother in law Eddie MacDonald, grandparents Forrest and Edna MacKeen, Aspen; and Kenneth and Margaret Chisholm, Antigonish.
Funeral Mass 2pm Tuesday in St. Ninian’s Cathedral, Rev. John Barry presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery
He will be fondly remembered by us all.
