Obituary of Roderick Gerard Chisholm
Chisholm, Roderick Gerard, 67 of Meadow Green, Antigonish County, died peacefully November 9, 2015 at home surrounded by family members.
Roddie was the son of Mary Gertrude (MacPherson) Chisholm, St. Andrews, and the late Thomas Joseph Chisholm.
Family was an incredibly important part of Roddie’s life. He was larger than life and kept everyone engaged with his quick wit and endless stories. Whenever asked how things were throughout his life and illness, his reply was always "Perfect". Uncle Roddie will forever be in the hearts and memories of his cousins, nieces and nephews
He was an automotive technician who spent his early years travelling the race car circuits and later in life enjoyed time on the open road with his wife as a professional long-haul truck driver. He was an active member of the St. Andrews community and fondly known as the ‘Mayor of Meadow Green’
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Erdine (Raaymakers); daughter, Angela and her children, Corey & Alex, Halifax; granddaughter, Summer, Edmonton; siblings Maureen (Archie) Boyd, Hugh James, Kevin (Leslie), Kathleen (John) MacIsaac, Duncan (Gwen), Tom (Kathy), Harold (Claire), Mary Eileen, sister-in-law, Cathy
He was predeceased by his son Richard ‘Boyd’, brother Gerald, sister Jessie Eileen and two infant siblings
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, the VON and to everyone who supported Roddie and Erdine during his care
Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will take place on Friday, November 13th at 11:00am in St. Andrews Church, St. Andrews with Father Gary MacPherson presiding. Burial in the St. Andrews Cemetery will follow. A Celebration of Life will take place at the St. Andrews District Community Centre
