Obituary of Isabel Celine MacDonald
Isabel Celine MacDonald
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Isabel Celine MacDonald, 84 of West River, Antigonish County on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at St. Martha's Regional Hospital. Born in Beaver Meadow, Antigonish County. She was the youngest child of Murdock and Mary Bell (Cameron) MacDonald.
Throughout her life, Isabel's passion was caring for her family and supporting them in every possible way. She had a special gift of working with facts and figures. She enjoyed growing her potatoes and beans in the summer and knitting mitts in the winter. She always provided a helping hand to those around her and expected nothing in return.
She retired from the Angus L MacDonald Library at St. Francis Xavier University after nineteen years of employment. In retirement, she enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren, knitting an endless supply of wash cloths and feeding the many visitors to her kitchen in West River.
Isabel is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, John D MacDonald; daughters Heather (Mike) Jensen, Ottawa, ON; Lisa (Bradley Davies), Hong Kong; Jane MacDonald, Antigonish, NS; Jennifer (Chris Grover) Frankville, NS; grandchildren Kate and Laura Jensen; Emma and Iain Davies; furry grand babies, Flower, Kaluha, Shadow and Rory.
She is survived by her siblings Donald (Elaine) MacDonald, Guelph, ON; Claire (John) Grace, Ottawa, ON. She is predeceased by her siblings Roderick (Myrtha) MacDonald, Georgetown, ON; Catherine (Ed) Farrell, Pittsburgh PA; Johnny (Mary) MacDonald, Detroit, MI.
Isabel will be sadly missed by her family, cousins, nephews, nieces and many friends. As John D. remarked, “She was the best lady in the world.”
Funeral Mass 11:00 am Wednesday in St Ninian’s Cathedral, Rev. Donald MacGillivray presiding, burial in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Antigonish County.
