Obituary of Sarah Ann (Sally) Novak

Novak (Gillis), Sarah Ann (Sally) 89, of Antigonish Manor, and formerly of Livingston’s Cove, passed away peacefully in St. Martha’s Hospital, Antigonish on May 18, 2019. Born in Morar, Antigonish Co., she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Sarah (MacKinnon) Gillis.  

Mom loved a good game of cards and a hot cup of tea in a china cup. She loved to knit and crochet. She was a home maker all her life. She will be missed by all. 

She is survived by her children; Sandy (Carolyn), Antigonish; Vince (Maria), Livingstone’s Cove; Veronica, Lochaber; Carmen (Mary Anne), Antigonish; Michelle, Antigonish; Michael (Cathy), Livingstone’s Cove; Barbara (George) Weir, Lower South River; Cathy, Antigonish; Kim (Kevin) Melanson, Ashdale; Darrell (Colleen), James River;  Darlene McInnis, Antigonish;  sisters, Barb Belanger, Montreal; Fran Adams, Cambridge, Ont;  34 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her husband Michael Novak, daughter Josephine, in infancy, son John Gillis Novak,  grandson, Matthew Novak, sisters, Mary Brown, Christine MacEachern, Florence Smith and brothers Johnny, Andrew, Alexander, Lawrence, and Bernard in infancy. 

She will rest in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St. on Tuesday, May 21 from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral Mass will be held in St. George’s Church, Georgeville on Wednesday, May 22 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Andrew Boyd presiding, cremation to follow. Burial in parish cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only please. Donations may be made to Cathy’s Place Cancer Resource Room or St. George’s Parish.  www.MacIsaacs.ca
