I met Mike on the GMCNET, his posts were spot on technically and witty. We both attended a number of the same GMCMI Conventions and I thoroughly enjoyed his company. We also were kindred spirits when it came to Harley-Davidson's; he had a really nice Pan Head and I've got a Knucklehead. At 71 as we say Downunder "he had a good innings." All the best to his Family and Friends.

So very sorry to learn of Mike fading away down the road into the sunset.
We had such wonderful memories to share when we met on occasion - from our years at X, exploits involving automobiles, skiing, etc.
Just last week I had kept him informed of our impending move eastward - finally - to Tatamagouche, the implication being we would finally be able to arrange proper and regular 'play dates' after all these years.
Left with the very best of memories, of a very fine friend.
See you soon Lorraine.

Mr Beaton was a great teacher. Even tho it was 36 years ago at GMHS, when I'd run into him around Antigonish, I found it hard to call him Mike. Sad to hear of his passing. Will be missed by many.

"Tool" and I have been friends for over 50 years. He was very focused on maintaining friendships and was helpful to everyone who experienced difficulty with any engine (boats, cars - anything). He was a mechanical genius. I remember a volkswagon Jetta that I owned and I tried to replace a mirror and could never get it right. Mike fixed it in less than five minutes. Together we bought a car while in high school, much to the chagrin of our parents, and were so very proud of "tooling around together". I also remember taking his father's car and doing wheeling on the parking lot across from The Oasis. MIke was so proud of his children and grandchildren and so happy that his two youngest grandsons lived close by. My wife, Marie, and I shared a very special friendship with him and his wife, Lorraine, and had so many laughs and adventures together. He was my best friend and I will always treasure our friendship. RIP Tool.

I met Mike as a student at StFX. He always stopped to visit me in Maine on his many travels. He was a wonderful person and good friend and Deb and I extend our condolences to Lorraine and family. It was wonderful for Deb and I when Mike and Lorraine stood for us at our wedding at St. Andrews, NB on January 1, 2001. I never saw Mike teach, but I know just from his personality he had to have made a gigantic difference in the lives of the students he taught. He was a unique human being who left the world a better place. RIP my old friend!!

I met Mike through Lorraine when she lived in Connecticut as a traveling nurse. Mike would drive 800 miles plus on a Friday night to spend the weekend with Lorraine and her kids. I was always impressed by the love and devotion he had for Lorraine. When Lorraine moved back to Nova Scotia, I went to visit them with my kids. Mike was so welcoming and supportive of my kids and where they were in their journeys. He must have been an inspiration as a teacher. His sense of humor was a gift and got him through difficult times. RIP Mike Beaton
