Obituary of Wilma Catherine Burke
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving mother Wilma Catherine (MacInnes) Burke, 100 of Bailey's Brook, Pictou County. Mom passed away peacefully October 26, 2019 in the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home. She was the daughter of a late Colin and Mamie (MacGillivray) MacInnes.
Wilma lived her life raising 13 children. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life and was a woman of strong faith. Her life is the proof that strong women aren't simply born; they are made by the storms they walk through. Her hugs mended all heartache and her smile spread from her face to yours. She had an unfailing wit that she maintained right up to her final hours. Mom never ceased to amaze us.
Surviving are her brother Collie R. and stepbrother Jimmy Harpell. Daughters Gail (John) MacKinnon, Truro, Christene MacDougall, Bailey's Brook, Olga (Gareth) Langille, Truro, Nadine (Colin) MacInnis, Arisaig, and Shawna (John) Somers, Halifax. Sons Alfred (Mary) and Sander (Minnie) both of Bailey's Brook, 24 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren son-in-law Joe MacDougall, daughters-in-law Barbara Doyle and Karen Burke. Also 10 step grandchildren, 17 great step grandchildren, 2 great great step grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Fred, sons Rodrick, Donald, Conrad and Max and daughters Estelle MacDonald and Lenore MacDougall, sons-in-law Dan MacDougall and Charlie MacDonald. She was also predeceased by sisters Goldie MacLean and her husband Charlie, Edna Chisholm and her husband Archie, Gussie, Carmie MacDonald and her husband Dougall, sister-in-law Clare MacInnes, stepbrother Jerry Harpell along with two sisters and one brother in infancy.
