Dear Janet and family – my deepest sympathies, especially during these difficult travel restrictions. I hope Jim did not suffer too much at the end. Jim always loved to talk about the Lord and sent me a wonderful letter of encouragement and scripture verses after Arthur died. We were close friends with Jim and Gertrude for many years and valued their friendship and shared Faith. Jim will be missed by all who knew him.
God Bless,
Mary Cunningham

My condolences to the family. I remember Dr. Carson from our working days at Veterans Affairs. He was very kind and gentlemanly in many ways to all he encountered.

To John, Janet and Family,
Old neighbours, friends, and fellow Bay Boys.
So sad to hear of your Dads passing. Will certainly miss our first Christmas card of the Season from him.
You guys go way back to Oakmount s/d Bedford. Watched you grow into wonderful adults. Always remember your Mom and Dad cutting out the back yard, day by day. Became great neighbours. Brought our Son Jonathan to that house next door. Visited John in Aruba, watched Janet in our Bedford days pageant. Your Dad always came into my office whenever he came to Halifax.
He knew more about Glacé Bay than I forgot. Who was kin to whom. What a memory. Always trying to promote Marble Mountain.
His heart and soul was there. A lovely friend, a true Christian, knew the Bible inside out. He was so proud of you both.
Hope we can get to see you when you have a service here in Nova Scotia. You have a great heritage from your Mom and Dad.
Much love to you both and to your wonderful Family John.
Blessings from John & Marlene.

To Jim's children Janet and John, all his family and friends, please accept our condolences. We truly enjoyed getting to know Jim and Gertrude during our time at St. James, Armdale. It was great to chat with Jim about our home town of Glace Bay and its past history. I once enjoyed an invitation from Jim to visit a men's discussion group that met at St. Andrew's United Church in Halifax. We hope you will be consoled by many happy memories from Jim's enthusiastic life. -The Rev. Canon Rod & Wendy Gillis.
