So sorry to hear of Ronnie's passing. He was a great friend to us over the years. Always enjoyed when Ronnie dropped by the house for a visit. Loved those summer lobster Cantonese parties and going out fishing in for mackerel in his boat. Especially appreciated letting me drive the big boat as a young fella. My father mother and I thought the world of Ronnie. He truly had a kind and gentle sole.

It was wonderful to know Ronnie. He was my teacher, a leader and co-conspirator with my father in the Antigonish Liberal Association and in numerous provincial and federal election campaigns. Ronnie imparted knowledge, organized and supported people, and consistently showed his pride in his family. It is often what one does that marks their impact. I found Ronnie to leave an impact as a person of action and words. Always unflappable, Ronnie was a positive role that many looked to for leadership and support. Personally, I have not forgotten his words to me that helped ease the pain of my father's sudden death. Ronnie was truly a very good man. May he rest in peace. My condolences to Nan and his family.

To Nan and girls,
So sorry to hear of Ronnie's passing. One of dad's oldest and dearest friends. They worked together, fished scallops in the summer and "discussed" politics. Even though they were on opposite sides of politics, they could appreciate a good debate. I echo the former mayor's thought that Ronnie never said a bad word about anyone. He was a quiet gentle giant. Rest easy Elbows. Clare and Terry Kennedy

I am deeply saddened with the passing of Ronnie. I knew him for many years and always enjoyed speaking with him. He had a dry sense of humor but always sincere in what he said.
I especially recall his teaching the boys in the mechanics program and they certainly enjoyed him and the way he could relate to them. On one occasion many years ago I had an opportunity to go scalloping dragging with him. I will never forget that experience. Ronnie, you will be missed. God Bless.
Gordon Barker
