GRANT, Mary Inez passed away in Green Meadows Community Residence for Seniors on September 24, 2021. Born in Antigonish, December 16, 1927 she was a daughter of the late Joseph M. and Rose (MacGillivray) Grant. Inez was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Inez was a graduate of Mount St. Bernard College, Antigonish; the Provincial Normal College, Truro; and, Mount Saint Vincent University, Halifax. She started her profession teaching six years for the Antigonish County School Board. She later moved to Halifax and taught thirty-three years in St. Stephen’s School for the Halifax City School Board. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Parish, Halifax and St. Ninian Cathedral Parish, Antigonish. Inez was a former member of St. Ninian’s Senior Choir. She enjoyed travelling, dinner theatres and visiting friends and family. After her retirement, Inez returned to her beloved Brierly Brook. She spent her last years at the Green Meadows Residence in North Grant where she enjoyed the company of the residents and staff. The family wishes to thank the staff for the compassion, care and love they showed to Inez.
Surviving are several nieces, nephews and sister-in-law Dona Grant, Thunder Bay.
She was predeceased by five brothers, Joseph (Mabel), Francis (Mary), Arthur, and Lewis (Anne) of Antigonish; Leo, Thunder Bay, Ontario; four sisters, Margaret (Cyril) Reddy, Dorothea (Ralph) Purcell, Marjorie Grant and Gertrude (Donald) MacIntyre of Antigonish.
Visitation 12-1:30 pm Tuesday, September 28, 2021 in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St. with Funeral Mass to follow at 2 pm in St. Ninian's Cathedral, Antigonish, Rev. Danny MacLennan presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery. Covid-19 protocols will be in place at both visitation and funeral mass. In Memoriam, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
