I only learned of the passing of Dr. Lynch upon receipt of the St. FX Alumni News this week. He was my senior Chemistry honours thesis advisor in 1975, and a truly caring mentor. He encouraged me to take on postgraduate studies and kept in touch over the years. I wish to offer my deepest sympathy to the family of Dr. Lynch.

To Dr. Lynch's family, my genuine condolences on your loss. He was a remarkable man. I spent my undergraduate years at StFX under his wing. He provided me with summer employment, project work during the school year, supervised my senior project, mentorship and guidance. I spent many hours on his Mac computer documenting all the novel compounds he had synthesized in his career. We kept in occasional touch over the past 15 years (I graduted from StFX in 2007). He had a big impact on my education and I am grateful for that. May he rest in peace.
