It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Anthony (Jim/Jimmy) Haley, of Merland, Guysborough County.
Jim passed away peacefully on March 30, 2022 at the age of 73, at the Richmond Villa, St. Peters, Cape Breton with family by his side.
Born on October 2, 1948 in Heatherton, he was the son of the late Anthony Haley and Iris Hutchinson Haley.
He was a long time employee of R Maclean Forestry. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed all aspects of outdoor activities and especially living and working on his homestead property in Merland. He loved playing the guitar and a good party. We are sure there was a rip roaring party when he arrived in heaven.
He is survived by his long time companion Doris and her children and grandchildren, son Brent (Lynn), grandsons Brody and Jace, brothers; Brian (Linda) Ottawa; Raymond (Eileen) Fraser's Grant; Bernie (Mary) Brierly Brook; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister Maureen.
Visitation will be held on Sunday April 10, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-9 in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant Street. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Monday April 11, 2022, in Immaculate Conception Church, Heartherton with Reverend Andrew Gillies presiding, burial in the parish cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
We would like to extend a heart felt thank you to the St. Peter's "Richmond Villa" for the over and above care that Jim had recieved in his time there. Their actions with him have shown us of the dedicatated care he had received.
Please note: the family requests that masks be worn at both visitation and funeral and that COVID-19 protocols of social distancing, etc. be observed.
