Obituary of Shirley Theresa Chisholm
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear Mother and Nanny Shirley T. Chisholm of Glen Haven Manor, formerly of Williams Point, Antigonish. She was comforted by family in palliative care at Aberdeen Hospital as she left this world to walk with God into the gates of heaven.
Born in Malignant Cove, Shirley was a daughter of the late Emily (Wallace) and Patrick Linkletter. She is survived by her daughter Darlene Chisholm, Antigonish; Granddaughter Michelle (Shane), Thorburn; Great Grandchildren, Domonic, Dawson, Gabrielle, Isabella, Damien all of Thorburn; son-in-law Mac and his son Tanner Harding of Williams Point; sisters Nellie, Antigonish; Mary B (Wayne), Surrey BC; brother Billy Linkletter, Sydney. Shirley will also be greatly missed by special niece Debbie Linkletter.
Shirley reunited with old friends and made many new ones when she moved in to the Greenwold Manor. Shirley was always up for a drive, a good card game or a fun party. You never knew what she was going to say, but you just knew it would make you giggle. She was an avid bingo player and always enjoyed a good hockey game on T.V. After her move to Glen Haven Manor in New Glasgow she enjoyed daily visits with Michelle and the kids, tea parties with her roommate Hazel, Sunday drives with Michelle to pick up the kids from their weekend adventures, radio bingo with the younger grandbabies and walks around the manor grounds were some of her most recent favorite things.
Shirley is predeceased by her husband Jimmy Chisholm, daughter Marlene, son-in-law Billy Wallace.sisters Marguerite Chisholm, Sadie MacNeil, Marie Kwik & Mary Beatrice in infancy, brothers: Leslie & Robbie Linkletter.
A special thanks to her care givers at River Glen, Glen Haven Manor and her team of ER and ICU doctors and nurses at the Aberdeen Hospital, especially ICU Nurses Deane and Robin.
