Obituary of Daniel Alexander Greencorn

After a valiant battle with Alzheimer's, it is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother Daniel Alexander Greencorn of Halfway Cove on December 25, 2023 in the RK MacDonald Nursing Home.

Dan was born at home on August 15, 1948, in Half Island Cove to the late Covert and Mary (Hendsbee) Greencorn. 

Dan is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Jeannette Greencorn (Praught); daughter Wilma (Lawrence Bouchie), Aulds Cove, NS; sons Andrew (Kati) Halfway Cove, NS; Michael, Toronto, ON; Steven, Halfway Cove, NS;  grandchildren Jimmy Spencer (Barb); Samantha  Spencer, both of Mulgrave, NS; Daniel Greencorn (Emily), Antigonish, NS; and great granddaughters Shayla Spencer, Aulds Cove, and Miley Meagher, Mulgrave. Brother, Clarence, Acton, ON; sisters, Betty and Muriel both of Halfway Cove; Wilma, Roachvale, NS and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Besides his parents, Dan was also predeceased by brothers-in-law Johnny Lyons, Earl Greencorn, and Harvey Dort. 

Dan met and married the love of his life Jeannette Praught in Milton, ON while working at Hamilton Steel, later they moved back home to Halfway Cove, where he worked at the Canso Fish Plant until his health no longer allowed him to work. 

Dan enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours fishing, hunting, walking in the woods, watching the deer, and taming the squirrels to take peanuts out of his hand.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the RK MacDonald Nursing Home. 

Cremation has taken place under the care of MacIsaac Funeral Home. 

A Celebration of Life for Dan will be held from 1:00-3:00 pm on Saturday, January 13, 2024, in the Chedabucto Fire Hall, Queensport.

No flowers by request.  

Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society, or a charity of choice.
