Wyman MacEachern

Obituary of Wyman Joseph MacEachern

Wyman Joseph MacEachern, born to Anthony and Florence (Gillis) MacEachern on March 8, 1966, passed away on July 29, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Known for his quick wit and unmatched knack for wheeling and dealing, Dad could barter for just about anything, from a vintage car to a good laugh. His grandsons, however, were his greatest joy.

Wyman’s love for animals was legendary, especially his special dog, Queenie, who held a place in his heart almost as big as his personality. He had a kindness and generosity that was as boundless as his humor. Whether he was spending time with his son Tyler, roofing and cracking jokes, or sharing a mischievous grin before a funny quip with his signature sideways hat and raised eyebrow, Wyman was always the life of any family gathering.

His dedication to his family and friends was unwavering. He cherished every moment with his grandsons Joshua, Brayden, Owen, and Beau, and was thrilled about the arrival of his two grandsons on the way. His love for his longtime partner and the love of his life, Cecelia Chisholm, was a testament to his big heart and deep capacity for love.

Wyman’s favorite sayings, “Keep your stick on the ice and snorkel half inch above the water” and “God bless,” were his parting wisdom to everyone he met, reminding us to stay resilient and cherish every blessing.

Wyman is survived by his beloved Cecelia; his daughter Jessica Hart (Michael) and their son Joshua of Antigonish; his son Tyson MacEachern (Chandra) and their fur son Knox of Port Hawkesbury; his daughter Samantha MacEachern (Tico) and unborn grandson of Afton; and his son Tyler MacEachern, his daughter in law Hanna and their sons Brayden, Owen, Beau, and their unborn son who will be named after his grandfather; of Pomquet.

He is also survived by his brothers Wayne (Samuel) of California, Kevin (Jovy) of Cape Breton, Richard of British Columbia, sisters Tena (David Fuller) of Antigonish, Lisa of Alberta; Roy (Geraldine) of Alberta, John (Angela) of Alberta;  special sister-in-law Maria of Antigonish; many nephews, nieces, and dear friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Florence; his brother Tony; mother-in-law Jean; father-in-law Charlie; and brother-in-law Blaise. Wyman was met at the pearly gates by his dog Homer, who was his best friend.

At Dad’s request, there will be no formal services. A graveside burial will take place in St. Columba Cemetery, Lakevale, Wednesday, August 7th at 10:00 am.

In his memory, we the family ask that you share a story and remember the man who lived life on his own terms.

Keep your stick on the ice and snorkel half inch above the water, and God bless.
