Obituary of Sister Margaret McDougall
McDougall, Sister Margaret, formerly Sister Teresa Aneas, a Sister of St. Martha of Antigonish, died at Bethany Wednesday, September 28, 2016. She was in her 60th year of religious life.
Born in LeBret, SK, and baptized Margaret Mary, she was the daughter of the late Angus and Margaret (MacDonell) McDougall.
Sister Margaret entered the Sisters of St. Martha in 1954, and pronounced her final vows on August 15, 1959. Prior to entering the congregation, Sister Margaret obtained a Commercial Course from Sacred Heart Academy, Regina, SK, and for two years she served with the Sisters of St. Martha in the Catholic Welfare Office in Regina.
As a Sister of St. Martha, Sister Margaret‘s ministries included social work at Catholic Charities in Sydney, NS, and at Mercy Hospital, Regina , SK; homemaking and/or secretarial services at St. Charles Convent in Dominion and St. Clare Convent in Sydney Mines, Christ the King Convent in Trenton, Mineral Springs Hospital, Banff. While serving in these capacities, Sister Margaret also taught catechetics. As well, she served as community leader in five of the Martha local communities in which she lived. Sister Margaret was always generous with her time and her talents in anyway that could be most helpful to others.
Sister Margaret was the third youngest in a family of eleven children. She is survived by one sister, Helen Peterson, Yucca Valley, CA. She was predeceased by two sisters - Theresa and Annie Evelyn; and seven brothers - Joseph, Hugh, Gerald Ronald, Finley Raymond, Alexander Joseph, Donald Anthony and John Angus.
The remains will be resting at Bethany, beginning on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 1:15 p.m. A Celebration of Vigil will be held on the same evening at 7:30. Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, October 1st at 2:00 p.m. in Bethany Chapel.
