Obituary of Catherine Agnes Chisholm
Catherine Agnes Chisholm:
101, Windsor Junction, formerly of St. Andrew’s, Antigonish County, passed away on July 17, 2018 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Born in Beauly, Antigonish County, she was a daughter of the late Archibald Valentine and Mary (MacDonald) Chisholm.
Catherine worked tirelessly as a homemaker where she enjoyed the company of friends and relatives. She always made sure that everyone had lots to eat when they dropped by for a visit! She was a real sports enthusiast and especially loved hockey. Catherine was a life-time member of the St. Andrew’s Catholic Women’s League; and she was also a member of the St. Andrew’s Oak & Owl Club. She had a deep Catholic faith and was a faithful member of the St. Andrew’s Parish, St. Andrews and the St. Rose of Lima Parish, Fall River. Catherine derived great pleasure from time spent with her family and friends but especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Catherine is survived by children: Rod (Vianna), Cornwall, ON and their children: Lisa (James Rivers) and Krista (Brian LaVack); Irene (Ian) MacNeil, Windsor Junction, and their children: Kelsi (Brandon Wasson) and Kyle (Melissa Howlett); son-in-law Rod Beaton, Clayton Park and his son, Stephen Beaton (Claire); five great-grandchildren: Jake and Molly LaVack; Samantha Hewitt, Evelyn Beaton and Ethan Wasson, and sisters: Flo Huckfield, North Vancouver, BC and Marie Bullen, Campbellford, ON.
She was predeceased by her husband, Leo; daughter, Josepha Beaton; and three children in infancy. She was also predeceased by her sisters: Margaret Burns, Christine MacLellan, Mary Duffy, Mary Anne MacDonald, Sadie Stinson and brothers John D. and Valentine and two siblings in infancy.
The family extends its heartfelt appreciation to all of the Saint Vincent's Nursing Home staff who cared for Catherine in such a loving and kind manner. She truly felt a part of the 6th floor family of caregivers and residents.
Visitation will be in MacIsaac’s Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant Street, Antigonish on Friday, July 20, from 7 pm to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 21 at 11am in St. Andrew's Church, St. Andrews, with Father Andrew Gillies presiding. Burial in St. Andrew’s Cemetery.
Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to Saint Vincent's Nursing Home, Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of choice.
